The workshop will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2010, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. FTA and US DOT Panel Sessions at TRB
Please be advised the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is conducting seven technical panel sessions at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting, January 10-14, 2010 in Washington, DC. Attending one of these sessions would be a first-hand opportunity for you and others to hear about what we are doing at FTA, listen to similar viewpoints on the issues, discuss issues of consequence to you, understand the direction we are heading, and ask questions to exchange ideas and thoughts. It would be great if you could attend one or more of the FTA sessions that interest you.
The topics addressed are:
· transit-oriented development, livable and sustainable communities;
· performance benchmarking - -how does my agency stack up;
· public involvement approaches to improving transit service planning;
· urban rail safety: a global perspective;
· challenges, strategies, and achievements of multimodal transportation development in major metropolitan areas – a Mumbai case study;
· projecting capital investment needs for transportation; and
· From concept to practice: implementing a planning process supporting sustainable communities.
