UCTRC Conference 2007 |
| Poster Session |
- Topic Ideas: If you're new to transportation, pick a topic of interest to you and put together an informational poster. Here are some sample poster topics:
- History of Transportation in Los Angeles
- Current Issues in Freight Transportation
- Alcohol and Traffic Safety Research
- Debates About High Occupancy Toll (HOT) Lanes
- Transportation and Smart Growth Principles
- Transportation Planning in Developing Countries
- Transportation Infrastructure Finance
- Asphalt Pavement Research
- Group Posters: We encourage collaboration on posters. If you have peers with common interests, work together to design a poster.
- Vital Information: On your poster, you should include the title of your poster, your name(s), your campus and academic department, and any other people who should be credited (i.e. your advisors, professors, co-authors, co-collaborators, etc). Here is an example:
Anti-terrorism Security and Surface Transportation Systems: A Review of Case Studies and Current Tactics
Camille N.Y. Fink and Brian D. Taylor, Department of Urban Planning, UCLA
- Display: Use a piece of posterboard to make your poster. You will be able to tack your poster directly to the wall so foamboard is not necessary.
- Design Tips: Use photographs or graphics whenever possible. Keep visuals simple and try to use color if feasible. The viewer will only have a few seconds to grasp the importance of an individual slide or graphic.
- Awards: All attendees will have the opportunity
to vote for their favorite posters (1 from each poster session). The poster
from each session that receives the most votes will receive a prize.
- Session Information:
- There will be two poster sessions:
12:15 PM - 1:00 PM
Poster Session I - Northern California
2:15 PM - 3:00 PM
Poster Session II - Southern California
- Plan to stand by your poster during the session to discuss your topic and answer questions. You may want to bring a one-page summary or copies of a paper to hand out during the session.
Please make sure you put in a poster title on your registration form by JANUARY
29, 2007.
